Some of the settings are the specific Classic Shell GPO so i am going to recreate the entire
policy 1 by 1 and see if i can pinpoint which one(s) cause the issue.
I'm working around this issue currently by unticking the 'start automatically for this user' and pushing that out,
along with other user settings via the default user profile.
I do hope this issue is being taken seriously? "So happy to find this program. Very well made with lots of options. Makes Windows 7 worth using. Saves me from daily frustration. Thank you so much!" Eric "Brilliant! No more frustration, I can work just like I used to! Thank you!" Anonymous Donor Rinse & repeat to get the whole
second column x 3 sizes, 100%,125%,150%.I'll copy most of
the added options from Classic 2 version & and put in the
7 style skin, like transparent sub, glass sub, white sub, Metro arrows.
I'm going to release a 7 style glyph screenshot version of Mr bumpy's skin, in the
next one or two days.I'm just sharpening up the
Windows glyphs. It's a bit of a process, as far as I know, not possible for CSM to use
them directly in a start menu. As you can see the icons are out of alignment, and need work.If I do finish it, it will be as simple as possible, with no entry changes available on second column.
And faster than I'd ever hoped to recieve an answer.Works
perfectly and suits my visual style like a glove (first color choice is already perfect). And it even taught me how to create options.Thank you very much!
Just in case people don't know about this,
as I didn't know until Gaurav told me, a while back. You
can use Win 7 style without the internal tree programs,
and have the xp fly out programs menu. The settings are under
"Main Menu" tab. All I can say as a certainty at the moment is that a user with
no policies to lock down the desktop, start menu or taskbar work fine and users
with policies applied (not just classic shell policies) experience the issue.
Did you solve the issue or are you just not
using Classic Start Menu for now? Our set up is in a
Secondary School and our explorer keeps freezing
at 800 threads. If I kill the explorer and restart him later, everything
works again fine until the next time. Everything is working
as its not hit the magic 800 yet, but it appears that the extra threads are zombies
Right now, on this test system, its sitting on 631 threads and
the PC is otherwise idle. I uninstalled the whole Office 2016 package and it definitely had impact
on the issue, but the explorer freeze is still reproducable.
The start menu uses about 10 threads itself, most are inactive
until they are needed.
Hello everyone, has anybody tried the Windows Explorer setting "Launch folder windows in a separate process" reg.exe add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" /v
SeparateProcess /t reg_dword /d 0x1as a solution for the freezing session problem?
Well, if you want to disable the start menu to even run (not just be inaccessible), then use the setting "Start automatically for this user" in the General Behavior tab Some setting affects
how Windows works, which is probably not compatible with how Classic Shell
works. Hopefully this is helpful for you, using procexp I have viewed
the threads and the thread that is open most is "ntdll.dll!RtlReleaseSRWLockExclusive+0x1370" Seems to be when I apply a GP setting that affects the Start Menu, Taskbar or explorer.
I am at a point where I have a set of security GPO applied the freezing
issues occurs, when I remove the GPO the issue doesn't
occur.
Hopefully I'll be able to resolve my issues with the utility, but if not then one can only hope others will pick
up the torch. Thanks for your help. I've run into this issue that I hope someone here can help me
with. The PowerShell script restarts the Explorer
process in the security context of the user, when the thread count of the Explorer process of the user exceeds 800 threads.Greetings
I tried it (twice), but Classic Shell keeps crashing and taking
explore with it (the taskbar goes away and
comes back...). It improves support for Windows 10 Redstone, adds taskbar
skinning, menu animations, and many new features. Thanks for link , but I wasn't aware Splitwirez shared his work ( I know him from DA but never saw any release dedicated to
10 ) , does he ? Hey Juniper thanks for link , but
I wasn't aware Splitwirez shared his work ( I know him from DA but
never saw any release dedicated to 10 ) , does he ? Will
add lighter opaque dark grey main option. That's about it.
Copy glyph font character from Character map program into MS Word.
It can be a picture or a solid color. Yes, I've been using it for quite
some time on Win 7 but it doesn't fit the look of Win 10 and
that's why I'm looking for something new - fitting the new style.
I simply don't understand why the default Metro skin uses the "accent"
color instead the taskbar color I second the request for "classic with 2 columns" support.I simply don't understand why
the default Metro skin uses the "accent" color instead the
taskbar color Although if you find out what's causing the issue
with the Start Menu and Explorer.exe on Windows 10, do let us know.
Was there ever any type of additional information,
workarounds, or resolution on this issue? That looks novel, but doesn't it mean people might
suddenly find the taskbar or any open folder windows disappearing mid-session?
Go to the Controls tab in the settings and set all of
them to open "Nothing" We were having exactly the same issues BigDog, everytime
you think you're actually getting somewhere...
At least the users still get the explorer functionality and I hold some hope that a future Windows patch or Classic Shell update will get over the 800 thread issue ...
Without Office 2016 the explorer wont freeze when one of the "Choose default apps" settings are opened.Still, by navigating through
folders it is still possible to get the explorer
in an unresponsive state. The threads are most likely created as a result of viewing some folder. What were you doing
at the time the dump was taken? When the start menu launches it collects all items from
the interesting folders (icons, names, etc).I think you can get the same crash when you simply view the Control Panel in Explorer.
___________I'm sorry for getting your hopes up, only
to shatter them. Hi Splitwirez CockadoodleJust a meaningless expression used at a time of being speechless, like a Tarzan yell.
If I do finish it, it will be as simple as possible,
with no entry changes available on second column. If you don't want the dark yellow
blend new programs color on mrbumpy409 .skin7,you will need to open up
the text in the .skin7 file with Resource Hacker. Is it possible
to add these Win 10 icons to this skin? The idea is
to make the background for new programs a bit more yellow than the standard selection color. |
